Vietnamese Centipede

Scolopendra dehaani

CentipedeintermediateVenom: Moderate

Venom note

Significant envenomation potential — severe local pain, marked swelling, occasional systemic symptoms (nausea, elevated heart rate, lymph involvement). Larger specimens approach the medically-significant tier; treat with extreme caution. Sometimes traded under the S. subspinipes complex name — keep that ambiguity in mind.

About

Vietnamese Centipede — large, dark, blazing-fast rainforest species. Striking gloss-black body with yellow or orange legs. One of the most reliably-imported large Scolopendra. Demanding humidity — keep substrate damp throughout, never let it dry out. Burrows deep; surface appearances are brief. Defensive on a hair-trigger; rehouse with care.
