**Brazilian Black and White Tarantula** — A striking terrestrial species with a boldly patterned black and white abdomen and reddish femurs. More defensive than the related N. tripepii and known to be a more aggressive hair kicker.
Care is similar to other Brazilian terrestrials: moderate humidity, warm temperatures, and 3-4 inches of substrate. Provide a cork hide or similar retreat. N. coloratovillosus is an active species that tends to rearrange its enclosure and web heavily around its hide.
Not recommended as a first tarantula due to its defensive temperament and liberal use of urticating hairs, but manageable for intermediate keepers with calm handling practices. Fast feeder with a good appetite.
