**Featherleg Baboon** — Named for the distinctive feathery setae visible on the legs. Widely considered one of the most defensive tarantulas in the hobby — will strike repeatedly with almost no provocation and is extremely fast. Old World species with no urticating hairs; bites have been described as painful with localized effects. Requires a tall, well-ventilated arboreal enclosure. Maintenance operations (refilling water dishes, spot cleaning) carry significant bite risk and should be approached with great care. Experts only. An impressive display species when visible, but visibility is often limited as it tends to stay deep in its webbing.
